White Tiger Twins Countdown To Giving Tuesday - Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge: White tiger sisters, Tanya and Kizmin, want to remind you that it's only one week until Giving Tuesday on November 27! Why Donate:
TCWR takes in abandoned, abused, and neglected big cats and bears from a variety of backgrounds. Many of these animals are elderly or have chronic illnesses and injuries from their past experiences. We strive to give our animal residents the highest standard of care, which includes medical aid and providing them safe, spacious homes. We never know when we will encounter a large rescue that requires the creation or modification of habitats nor do we know the condition that those potential rescues will be in.
Tanya and Kizmin came to us during our 2016 Colorado Project, which may be the largest exotic animal rescue in United States history. During this time, we were made aware of 115 exotic animals in need of new homes; in the end, 34 came to TCWR while the rest were rehomed to reputable Refuges around the country.
At the facility, the animals were living in squalor, with "enclosures" that were unsafe for both humans and animals alike, many of which were tiny and almost all of which contained "mulch" made of ground up nails and splintered wood. All had health issues ranging from abuse, improper breeding, and a general lack of care.
Tanya and Kizmin are not only inbred, but they also have a mild form of metabolic bone disease that requires special diet and supplements. Their three siblings from a different litter, affectionately known as "The Trio," suffer from a severe form of the disease that requires even more advanced treatment. Other animals were declawed, defanged, underfed, and treated in such ways that will impact them for the rest of their lives.
The special needs of all of our animal residents and the desire to give them the care and habitat space they deserve is what spurred us to ask you to help us #GiveHealth, #GiveHome, and ultimately #GiveRefuge during #GivingTuesday, November 27.
