Our animal residents were treated to enrichment created by volunteers from the University of North Texas, who have a tradition of including us in their "alternative Spring Break" plans. They make an annual trip out to our Refuge to help with any projects that need assistance, and we couldn't be more grateful!
Fergy, a liger resident, along with new tiger residents, Tigger (a rare golden tabby tiger) and Floyd enjoyed destroying their goodies from the volunteers! In true Fergy fashion, she had to inspect the spectators gathered around her enclosure before showing off by rolling on her back; she finally got around to "killing" her hand-make prey with her typical liger vivacity.
Tigger was excited about the interesting "creatures" that were placed in his habitat. He took down the large giraffe first, before coming back for the pig. Floyd wasn't quite as vigorous in his actions, but after observing his brother in his usual quiet, cautious way, he took a giraffe leg (cardboard tube) of his own to his favorite corner of his habitat so he could enjoy it in peace.
